DSLR ISO Settings

Time: Around 6:45 pm

Camera: Nikon D3000

Shutter Speed: 1/25s

Aperture: f/8.0

ISO settings are quite helpful whenever you want to capture a picture without flash. Keeping ISO low, I was able to capture the light effect of sunset over clouds keeping surrounding dark.  One can enhance or lessen the effect of lights with proper ISO settings.

Taking photographs having bright color object is a fun. Aperture was kept on 5.6 to soften the background trees resulting a very sharp image of flower.

ISO: 800

Leading lines to the viewer’s eye give depth to your photograph. Set a good angle and show your creativity. Take multiple photographs and select best of it. For above photo, I took 5-6 pictures with different angles and settings. This is the one which is best. See, study and click is the key for good photography 🙂

Playing with lights

Time: 9:30 pm

Camera: Nikon D3000

Shutter Speed: 1

Aperture: 5.6

ISO: 800

Above photograph is taken in candle light with high ISO.  Shutter speed was kept low at 1 frame per second for maximum exposure.  When taking photograph with low shutter speed, it is always advisable to use tripod for maximum stability. If tripod is not available, take support of your knee or rest yourself on something. It is also tough to manage when you are portraying a kid. I was lucky enough that kid did not moved during that one second :).

You can try lot many things with lights. Best way to start with is a candle 😉

Still life photography gives you a complete control to arrange objects and lighting.  It shows the creativity of a photographer. If you have a creative sense, arrange things and take a snap. Shutter speed, aperture or iso depends on your creativity. Try few hands over it and see the results. Happy photography!
